I gave the correct answer to a question. Nobody seems to care. Why bother?

The question was about why the US Republican and Democrat parties have the logos that they have. I researched it, and gave an answer citing my sources, which looked as solid as you can get. But the original questioner seems to have lost interest; the other answerers just want to slag American politics. If you give accurate answers to purely factual questions and the questioner fails to notice or care that you've done so, shouldn't s/he be penalised in some way? I don't want points, I just want my work in discovering the answer to be a complete waste of time.
