Are there alternatives to neutering for dogs?

my city wants me to neuter my dogs and i have no problem preventing them from breeding but removing their testes completely seems extreme. they're good dogs and have no aggression problems for me to think they have "too much testosterone" to justify neutering. i'm not down for injecting my dogs with chemicals either. so i was wondering, if human males get vasectomies, why can't i just have my dogs get the same procedure? it's less invasive, complicated with no major anesthesia and a faster recovery time from what my brother's doctor tells me. why is this not a better option than neutering?
