What can I put in yard to get rid of SNAKES thats pet friendly?

My two dogs Dixie and ToTo Were outside in the back yard and Dixie started Barking (( Which she does not do much of )) So I went to see what was wrong and there was a snake by her feet ToTo was on the porch I checked for bites there were none (( Thank God)) My Husband killed the snake cut it in half. Is there something I could put down in the yard or a spray I can put on the lawn that is okay for the dog's. Evidently I can not put them back there until this is taken care of. Please if anyone has ANYTHING let me know Thanks and God Bless
